Athletes, Coaches, and Supporters,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Shanghai and to the Pudong campus of Shanghai Community International School. We are excited to be hosting the 2015 ACAMIS volleyball tournament and wish you all the best as the competition gets underway. First and foremost, I would like to give a huge thanks to Mr. Mike DeNeef for his coordination and leadership of this year's event. Alongside him are the many coaches, teachers, hosts, staff, and parents who have made this tournament a reality. Students, over the next few days please demonstrate your appreciation to these people in every way possible.

The volleyball tournament this week is far more than the first to twenty-five points. During the next four days, you mix with a unique group of students arriving within the ACAMIS region and coming from around the world. I encourage you to take time and get to know your competitors; you will likely find there are far more commonalities than differences among this eclectic gathering of teams.

Of course, what brings us together is competition, and to that end I wish everyone the best of luck as you dig, set, and spike your way through each game. My hope is that sportsmanship, above all else, is on full display, and that the victorious and the defeated are equally respectful and appreciative of the opportunity to compete. If we all can accomplish that, then it will indeed be a successful tournament.

Best of luck to you all,

Daniel Jubert

SCIS Pudong welcomes athletes, coaches and parents to the 2015 ACAMIS volleyball tournament. We are pleased to be given the opportunity to host knowing that this event and others like it throughout the year provide valuable learning opportunities for students on several levels.

Engagement in athletic endeavours develops skills in sport that some students may continue to use later in life. More importantly, all students who participate in these types of activities will learn lessons in perseverance, teamwork, and leadership that they will take with them and apply to everything they do long after leaving school. Students are unquestionably better off for their involvement.

The value to students is immeasurable but they clearly cannot do this on their own. Without the dedication and support of teachers, coaches and parents athletic and other co-curricular activities associated with our schools would not exist. We thank all of you, then, for joining us in this event as your presence and that of your students stand as a testament to work that you do.

Enjoy your time here as you play or watch some exciting volleyball knowing that, win or lose, everyone will come away with some great memories and positive experiences.

“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.” Plato

Welcome to Shanghai, the Shanghai Community International School and to the 2013 ACAMIS Orange Division Volleyball tournament. We are so happy that you are here. There are approximately 130 students and coaches from more than 18 countries at this tournament. Throughout this weekend you are sure to broaden your horizons as you mix and mingle with people from all over the world.

ACAMIS allows players and coaches to pursue excellence, rekindle relationships and to push the limits of what is possible on the volleyball court. Participating in athletics is about more than winning or losing - it is about developing confidence, defining character, and embracing challenge.  Win or lose you will grow as a person and a player throughout these 3 days.

It has been a hectic volleyball season filled with hard work and sacrifice. Appreciate your time here and the people you meet-this is your reward.  Play with passion, compete with character, and laugh with gusto. As we tie-in this tournament to Breast Cancer awareness month and you participate awash a sea of pink – please reflect on the role an active lifestyle plays in promoting a long and healthy life.

I wish you great success on and off the court. Thank you for coming. – we all look forward to ‘discovering more about you’.
